The National Retail and Town Centre Consultancy team is advising on the planning, development, and asset management of new/existing shopping centres, foodstores, retail warehouses, and designer outlet villages across the UK. For our developer, investor, and occupier clients we have secured permissions for new developments, extensions, change of use, and variation of conditions permissions that have helped to increase the attraction and value of their assets, as measured by increased footfall and higher turnover levels.
In the case of The Treaty Centre in Hounslow Town Centre, Angelo Gordon and Quidnet Capital purchased the shopping centre in late 2011 and have invested heavily in a programme of improvements to the internal malls, shopping environment and entrances, as well as a major refurbishment of the car park. They have also recently attracted retailers (including Next and H&M) into new modern format units, and are planning to improve the centre’s food and beverage offer.
In our role as planning advisors we have helped to secure permission for these improvements, where required. We also represented our clients’ interests in the preparation of a Town Centre Masterplan by the London Borough of Hounslow, which included the promotion of a new High Street Quarter. As part of the consultation we argued that any new development should complement rather than compete with existing shops and businesses in the town centre. As a result the Council is promoting a predominantly leisure-led scheme with its selected development
partner that will help to maximise the benefits for Hounslow Town Centre’s daytime, early evening and night-time economy.
